I work with studio-produced objects, ephemera and sound in relation to human concerns; ideas of mortality, cultural violence and pessimism. I am interested in the composition of space and approaching my installations from a formal painterly perspective. Space is a preoccupation in my work, from carving it up within my drawings and obsessively composing sculptural arrangements to working with sound, considering what happens in the spaces between and questioning how the ideas of the artist can be communicated to the viewer, engaging with mental and physical notions of space. I am interested in setting up situations/ scenarios within the work that force the viewer to question my intentionality. read full statement
