Caroline Rees

Artist, Maker

Designer & glass artist CAROLINE REES works from her studio near the beach on the beautiful Gower Peninsula. Originally trained as a textile designer her creative journey has included the design of fabrics, glass and paper. She began using her stencil technique to create architectural sandblasted glass about 12 years ago and has undertaken numerous commissions for public and private spaces. More recently she has employed the same skills to create intricate yet striking papercuts, enjoying the immediacy and lack of technical constraints which are associated with glass. The drawn image forms the foundation of all her work and both the glass artworks and cut paper stencils are designed, in collaboration with the client, to create a compositional narrative which is specific to it’s location and surroundings. read full statement
