Does it cover what I do?
Exhibitions, fairs, open studios, commissions, participatory and socially engaged projects, public art, workshops, talks, residencies and studio practice. Performance, live art and selling work are all included, wherever you are working: a gallery, a studio, a market, a school, a public space or private space.
Where your membership fee goes
Axis has no public funding. We left the Arts Council's portfolio in 2014 and have been paid for by our members ever since. That money goes straight back out: more than £70,000 a year in awards, bursaries, fellowships and artists' fees, into artists' hands. Six of our seven staff are practising artists.
Our Membership Charter sets out what we offer and what we ask of each other, and we have been insuring artists with Hiscox for over ten years.
Associate and Professional memberships include £15 million public liability and £5 million professional indemnity insurance, each with a £250 excess. Cover starts the day you join and runs for as long as your membership does. If you make a claim, your membership runs for a minimum of twelve months. Insurance is available to members based in the UK or with a permanent UK address.
