David Rhys Jones' ceramics are a form of social documentary that records the mix of cultures and architecture found in the modern day metropolis. He records his personal journeys around the city. These photographic images are applied to ceramic forms which themselves take inspiration from the architecture of the city. The ceramic pieces often exist in groups where they can be re-arranged to make different narratives. David is now starting to apply his concept and techniques to other materials and to a larger scale. He has recently been commissioned to produce a sculpture for Spitalfields. His work can also be seen in Culture Bound East Wing Collection VII at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Somerset House, London. (Freddie Robins, 2006)
