Happy Hour, 2005
Born in Lisbon in 1974 and now finishing his MA at Goldsmiths, Pacheco was the recipient of the Prmio de Artes Plsticas da Unio Latina this spring, and has exhibited extensively in Portugal and London. Often using re-photographed photographs and magazine clippings as source material, his large-scale paintings and video works cast both artist and viewer as performers, with particular parts to play in the construction of meaning. These two roles are as delicately balanced as the perfectly poised acrobats and Lipizzaner horses that appear in the paintings.
