Again, 2005
For Again, his performance at Limehouse's Old Town Hall this February, William Hunt attempted to drink cans of lager whilst spinning on a turntable. Inevitably, he fell over quite a lot. Rather less predictable, perhaps, is the reaction of the audience (those present and the viewers of the video documentation), which is not to laugh but to urge him to succeed. The physical difficulty of the London-born artist's endeavours (singing and playing a protest song upside down with his head in a bucket, for example) and the evident seriousness with which he approaches them elicit from the viewer a desperate desire for their completion. Experience it for yourself at Goldsmiths' degree show this month.
