Ethereal Presence 3, 2005
Clearly inspired by the pinhole photographs of Barbara Ess, Claire Auvache has created a series of haunting reflections of an urban humanised landscape. Ghost like figures appear in black and white pinhole photographs; vague, contemplative and detached. With no reference to contemporary structures, and the clothes too vague to discern, the context of the images appear to be timeless. The works are presented to a high standard and the images reproduced as inkjet prints.
