Director - Collective Gallery

Kate Gray studied at Oxford Brookes University before completing a BA Hons at Sheffield Hallam University and then an MFA at Glasgow School of Art. She exhibited widely nationally and internationally as an artist as well as being involved in a range of artist run organisations.

Between 1999 and 2006 she worked as Lead artist on a range of collaborative projects including Fusion and Functionsuite, becoming Lead Artist of the three year long One Mile Programme at Collective in 2006. During this time she initiated and produced projects by Johanna Billing and Spartacus Chetwynd.

Kate was appointed Director of Collective in 2008. Collective has developed a reputation for its consistent support for relevant, participatory and challenging work; its continued ability to innovate by spotting and supporting new ideas; and the high volume of quality programming activities it generated. Collective is focused on supporting new models that work across art forms and creating new visual art through a range of exhibitions, projects and commissions.
