Artist and curator - One Thoresby Street
Candice Jacobs is an artist and curator currently living and working in Nottingham. Many of her works deals with repetition and feature sound, words, text and images, which are displayed after a process of manipulation. Conducting interviews with the intention of extracting information, working with situations linked to labour and work, marketing and advertising, and the re-appropriation of observations that are linked to a particular time and place, provide a structure where an awareness of futility, failure and boredom is then applied.
Recent exhibitions include; An action, event or other thing that occurs or happens again, One Thoresby Street, Trade Gallery, Bonington Gallery, Nottingham (Nov 2011); Outrageous Fortune, Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea, UK (Hayward Touring with launch of editioned work at Hayward Project Space (Sept 2011); Portmanteau, G39 at Halle 14, Leipzig, Germany; The Bookmark Project, The Study, Nottingham Contemporary, UK; Too Much, Sideshow 2010, One Thoresby Street, Nottingham, UK (solo); and If…., G39, Cardiff, Wales (solo).
Jacobs was founding member of Moot, an artist-run gallery based in Nottingham (2005-2010) and One Thoresby Street (2009-present), an artist-run complex that supports the development of artists and creative organisations in Nottingham.
