Artist
For the last fourteen years Matt Baker has concentrated his artist practice full-time on work in the public domain. During this time he has developed participatory and collaborative techniques through projects ranging from temporary events/installations to large-scale permanent artworks and cultural strategies for programmes of urban change. Major sculpture projects include: Shinglehook- Scottish Borders, Cultivated Wilderness- Glasgow, 3 Virtues - Inverness, he was appointed as Lead Artist for the City of Inverness in 2006 where he curated the acclaimed group intervention ‘Imagining the Centre’ and continues to lead the IOTA programme for the city. He has exhibited across Britain and Europe and his work is held in Scottish public collections. Matt Baker works from his studio in South-West Scotland.
