FILM INTERVIEWS: Why Should Artists Work in Schools?

For the engage/enquire International Conference 2011: Work in Progress: artists, education and participation, Sheila McGregor meets Andrew Stooke and Sophie Bower, to hear their experiences of artists and schools. These film interviews explore what can be gained from inviting artists into schools, expose the challenges and investigate what makes a successful collaboration.

Andrew Stooke is Head of Art at Sherborne School in Dorset where he also runs the Oliver Holt Gallery.

Sophie Bower is an artist and part-time teacher. She also works as a creative practitioner with the organisation Curious Minds. Sophie completed the Artist Teacher MA at Liverpool John Moores University in 2009.

Sheila McGregor, Chief Executive of Axis and Daniel Baker, Education Director, Cubitt will be asking 'Why should artists work in schools?' in a break-out session at the engage/enquire International Conference at 2pm on Tuesday 15 November 2011.
