2 Residencies: a personal account of the Scottish Sculpture Workshop and Cove Park

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to undertake a residency? Maybe you are an old hand at packing your bags and taking off around the world? Dialogue asked Scottish artist Derek Lodge to chronicle his experience at two rural art centres in Scotland, where he has undertaken residencies as part of a collaborative group and an individual artist. You can also respond to Derek's video by posting a comment.

Many artists aspire to be selected for a residency. Organisations across the world offer opportunities to artists to take time out of their normal lives to focus solely on making their work or developing ideas. The package offered can vary from a self-funded trip to the funded provision of accommodation, studio space, flights and bursaries. But what is it actually like to undertake one? Axis artist Derek Lodge takes us on a humorous musical journey through his experience at Scottish Sculpture Workshop and Cove Park, which provide residencies in the remote and wild Scottish countryside.

What a delight - and so reassuring to see someone treating Mr Procrastination with such contempt.

Never mind the sculpture, this is a peachy keen movie.
