Axisweb Curated Selection Prizes (3 x £300)

Proposal Deadline: 26 November 2012

We have launched a new prize for current MA Curating students.

Is this you?  Then enter our Curated Selection Prize now . . .

We are the leading online destination for UK contemporary artists, art professionals and collectors: a rich curatorial resource presenting the work of 2,500 selected contemporary artists alongside critical content relevant to artists and art professionals.

Many established curators from across the UK have so far contributed to our Curated Selections of artworks on Axisweb – see www.axisweb.org/curatedselections.

To support the next generation of curators, we are inviting YOU to pitch for a Curated Selection on Axisweb.org with a chance to win one of THREE £300 Prizes!

This is a great opportunity to establish your curatorial profile on an excellent promotional platform
with a large, international audience. Furthermore, writing about contemporary art for the web is
an essential skill in a curator’s toolkit!

This competition is open to current MA students on Curatorial (or related) courses.

We are inviting you to:

  • Search Axisweb.org and select a group of six artists in response to a particular concept, theme, subject matter or formal approach

  • Write a proposal of no more than 250 words outlining your curatorial idea

  • Compile a list of six artists and selected artworks from Axisweb.org

We advise you to write short, clear paragraphs and to avoid complicated jargon…

Please also include a piece of your recent writing on contemporary art (either printed or via weblink), your contact details (email and phone) and state which MA course you are undertaking.

Deadline for entries is 26 November 2012. Winners will be selected by the Axisweb curatorial team and Alessandro Vincentelli, Curator of Exhibitions & Research at Baltic, Gateshead.

We will initially shortlist eight individuals, all of whom will be offered a free Art Professional Profile on Axisweb for 12 months.

Before entering, please read our competition terms and conditions.
