Price change
From June 2011 all artists will pay a single fee of £28.50 per annum for membership of the Axis directory, irrespective of where they live.
Until now, artists based outside England have paid £35 for directory membership to reflect the fact that Axis no longer receives revenue funding from the other UK arts councils. But the Axis Board has decided to reverse this policy.
Helping artists
“We want to represent what is happening in contemporary art practice across all four nations of the United Kingdom”, says the Chair of Axis, Sarah Fisher. “So it makes good sense to have a unified pricing policy. In the current climate we’re also committed to helping artists in any way we can.”
Axis Chief Executive, Sheila McGregor, adds: “We get more than 760,000 visits and 5,000 enquiries every year – that’s a big audience by any standards. And there are always more than 200 opportunities on the website at any given time, about 25% of them international. We want artists all over the UK to benefit from these services.”
