Now in its sixth year, MAstars has featured over 230 artists from the UK's leading MA courses, showcasing the quality and diversity of emerging artistic practices. Many of the artists featured have gone on to greater success, exhibiting in major shows and continuing to produce challenging and innovative work. Now Axis/MAstars would like be part of shaping that success by offering one artist from MAstars (2009) a bursary to fund a 12 month residency at the Florence Trust in London.
About the Florence Trust
The Florence Trust is more than just a studio. Housed in an inspiring Grade 1 listed Victorian church the trust provides the opportunity to work for one year with a small group of carefully selected artists, pushing the boundaries of your work and exploring new ideas.
The Trust offers an exceptional experience well beyond the normal provision of studio space with access to our networks, individual career support and opportunities. For many artists, their period with us has been a turning point in their careers.
The Florence Trust also has a gallery space that is open to the public for exhibitions, events and by appointment.

Aims of the award
To provide a funded studio space at the Florence Trust, London, which will allow time and space for an artist, free of other pressures, to create a new body of work for final exhibition in July 2011.
What the award covers
The award covers the rent on a studio at the Florence Trust, London, for 12 months, beginning in August 2010 and continuing until the end of July 2011. All other costs for living accommodation, travel and general subsistence must be met by you the artist. Please note that the Florence Trust studios are not live/work spaces.
