Hilary Jack 'repairs' a figurine.

Sale, Trafford, Tuesday 13 May, 7pm

The Waterside Arts Centre, Sale

Guest speaker: Sally O'Reilly / Artist-in-Residence: Hilary Jack

Discussion

Sally O'Reilly is a writer, lecturer and co-editor of Implicasphere. She is also co-founder of Brown Mountain College of the Performing Arts and writes, produces and performs art-historical metafictions.

She introduced the evening with the idea:

'Theatricality used to be an insult in the visual arts. Why has this changed? What essence of theatre do we refer to when we use it as an adjective applied to sculpture? And is Live Art's insistence on 'authenticity', in opposition to theatricality, desirable or even possible?'
