Axis offers you faster ways to find information about contemporary art practice.
You can find information on Axis about artists, curators and artworks through searching or browsing. If you are looking for something specific, searching can help you find it fast.
Which search do I use?
- If you know the name of the artist or curator use the A-Z search.
- If you are looking for information about artists use the artist search.
- If you are looking for information about curators use the curator search.
- You want to look at artworks use the artwork search.
- If you are looking for forthcoming artist events and exhibitions use our events listing.
- Or to just search across the whole site use our Google site search.
Using search
Enter descriptive words about what you are looking for into a search box, and you will receive search results that match those words.
Narrowing your results
Searching Axis can sometimes be overwhelming due to the large numbers of artists, curators and artworks found. You can reduce the number of results in your search by using the options to filter and sort.
Filtering allows you to modify the search criteria and perform the search again, so that your new search results are reduced and more precise. You will see the search filters on the right hand side of the different search pages.
Sorting re-arranges the results of your search, so that the number of results is the same, but presented in a different order.
Getting more details
From the Search results page just click on any of the artist, curator or artwork links and you will be taken to more information about your result.
Browse
If you are not sure what you are looking for, browsing is the way to go. You can browse by clicking on our different sections Selected and Dialogue. You can also view newly added artists, curators and works.
Contacting artists and curators
You can send a message to any artist or curator where it states on their page they are available to be contacted. For further help see How to contact artists and curators.
