Gavin Wade, artist-curator and Director of Eastside Projects, Birmingham will talk about his practice and current notions of The Cumulative. He says;
"I’m interested in the cumulative. Art as a cumulative process. A gallery as a cumulative process - and how artists or galleries may exploit the cumulative or deny it. Most galleries tend to deny it by cleansing themselves, each time, of what has come before and starting "afresh".
At Eastside Projects I’m trying to not do too much cleansing! A little always helps of course! But let's at least discuss this. It is not a rule, but an available option for discussion which becomes as much a part of the space as a floor or a wall."
The artist in residence for the evening will be Sam Hasler who will be making small text based interventions into the evening, in a physical and verbal form.
Come along, have a drink and join in the discussion!
