Julian Lister
Directory Coordinator
Role at Axis
I oversee the curatorial panel that assess artist applications for the Axis site. I also manage the MAstars section of Axis where I commission writers, curators, artists and arts professionals to select and write about graduating students from MA shows across the UK. These are then profiled on MAstars. I also produce film content for the website in the form of interviews with artists, curators and collectors.
Background
I joined Axis in 2000 after gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Art and Design and an MA in Contemporary Fine Art Practice at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Having always been interested in films, and since becoming involved in producing film content for the Axis website, I hope to complete a formal filmmaking course in the near future.
At Axis I'm best known for...
Being the resident film buff/anorak!
Website I like...
I'm a big fan of IMDB.com – it's a great resource for finding out about films, actors, directors etc.
My inspiration is...
The film 'Blade Runner (Director's Cut)' – it's cinematic perfection and a film I can revisit time and again and gain something new with each viewing.
