Birgit Deubner

In this photographic project 'Chorus / in vain I will away' I worked with the body in unconventional ways while acknowledging the influence of classical painting. Among key concerns are questions about the value of the individual;
as well as explorations into the individual's physical and metaphysical dipoles: fragility and resilience.

Political and societal concerns in my work often evolve through an engagement with mythology, folk tales and religious parables; I am currently developing a series of performance based works, drawing from these sources.
