Dropped Dome, 2001

I created and venerated a monumental unfired clay (dirt) object, clothed it in gold and supported it with a custom built scaffold structure.  This structure was made only to facilitate it's fall, similar to an undertaker taking measurements from a living person. Once dropped the facilitating structure was removed, leaving only the bare minimum of incidental clues. The object was mainly formed as a result of a great impact caused by a mechanism, not directly by hand
