Yorkshire Monument, 2011

Yorkshire Monument acts as response to ideas of locality and belonging. This work echoes the significant landmark which looms over the town of huddersfield. It addresses ideas of place, how landmarks enable us to orientate ourselves within our immediate environment and the multiplicity of histories and places within one location. Yarn, coal and textiles are used to both build the structure and speak about this region of Yorkshire's industrial legacy
