Contact Drawing, 2011

A triptych consisting of contact drawings of a chest of drawers. These drawings were created with proximity, accuracy and exploring methods of mark making in mind. The subject of the drawings, the chest of drawers, if drawn in a traditional manner, would be a distance away from the finished drawing. The accuracy of the depiction of the subject matter might compete with the marks on the paper. Drawn in this way, distance is minimal. In terms of mark making, the contribution from me is minimal, being provided by the surface and form of the chest. Accuracy, in terms of size and positions of items relevant to the description, is verified by the object itself.
