Lindsey Adams

Through the photographing of vintage ‘lace’ collars in specific light conditions, I have made a series of images that focus upon the shadows cast through varying diaphanous ‘fabrics’. These provide starting points for a series of small oil paintings, which use the close tones of shadows as metaphors for loss and distant memory. The images are enriched by the quality of the medium; they pose questions about their nature and derivation, as the source of the shadows is not always explained.
