Forever Academy, 2011

Focusing on dialogue, exchange, cooking and eating together, this new artist led initiative responds to the current cultural and economic climate. Shaped by the participants Forever Academy will explore creative strategies and shared questions resulting in new idea generating processes.

The Academy creates a temporary and nomadic centre for dialogue and community. Through partnerships with cultural organisations and established networks Forever Academy attempts to create a space for artists to focus on elements of practice and to raise questions about their work in conversation with other artists, curators, writers, and thinkers.

Forever Academy acknowledges that artists can have a very real role in change through intervention, discussion and image-making in a political, environmental and social context. Inspired by Black Mountain College, Free International University, Artist Placement Group and other artist-led DIY projects that enable artists to really focus on how they can work within our current society.

Future terms of Forever Academy will host speakers across disciplines including anthropology, ecology and economics, informing discussion and reflecting the positioning of artistic practice within the wider field.

Forever Academy is nomadic and will travel and respond to both economic and creative climate.
