Green Chamber, 2011

In the installation series Chambers a large collection of single colour objects are positioned to form an ambiguous landscape. A thin slot affords a view of the internal chamber filled with plastic detritus, reflection upon reflection creating the illusion of infinite space.

West is concerned with the psychological influence of colour, its effect and sensory impact upon the viewer. In-depth research is made into the meanings of the individual colours used.

The work challenges people’s expectations by allowing them to gaze into a different world, where the viewer can forget, momentarily, the clamour of everyday life.
