The panels making up the grid carry imagery of branches and twigs – making a connection with other natural systems (including those in humans, such as blood vessels or the lymphatic system). It is obvious that the black tracery and network of lines are lines of movement and communication. But there is a rift, an area of disruption in each of the images, preventing them from being seen as merely harmonious patterns of symmetry and reflection. This simple grid can be regarded as a map or a (dis)locating device for observing the complex patterns of nature.
