'Muzzle a Grizzle' was part of an event I was commissioned to curate for Brereton Parish Community Interest Group on 8th October 2011; to celebrate the raising of a totem pole with local stories and symbols past and present carved into it's surface (created by artist Anthony Hamond). In this encounter visitors were invited to attempt to 'muzzle the Brereton bear' It is said that one of the Brereton family murdered someone in haste, his guilt led him to confess his crime. His punishment (or not) was to be banished to a tower in london and given 3 days to make a muzzle for a bear, he was to be released in with a bear and if he could get his muzzle on his life would be spared! he survived! Those people who managed to muzzle the bear got to lead him in a parade.
