These small scale, abstract paintings on wood have developed alongside figurative paintings made at the same time, but now exist independently.
The paintings have the appearance of and refer to expressive modernist painting; however they come directly from an attempt to copy an improvised painting on paper - the gesture becoming a quotation of itself.
