Cabanon is a coracle with makeshift architecture added to form a small shelter for one person. I sailed it around the the upper lake and its islands at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The construction was made in response to the changes at the park, especially in the destruction and restoration of different buildings in the park, and it referenced many of the places it sailed past.
These still images document the sailing and the interior/exterior shots show how the scale of Cabanon shifts between the boathouse, whose form it mimics and out in the vast landscape.
The name 'Cabanon' comes from the cabin built by Le Corbusier, for himself, on the coast in the south of France. I love the simplicity and economy of this building and the contrast it represents to his other work.
