Becoming (detail), - 2009

The piece is composed of two works, which interact and relate to each other. The installation is intended to be read as a sequence in which each component is influenced by and in turn influences the other.

Becoming employs organic materials associated with loss & change. The ephemeral, tactile quality of the installation is as a vector through which to express life and the intensity and fragility of human emotions. The recorded performed ritual is the logical partner to the installation. It attempts to make a connection with nature and a sense of whole.

horsehair, silk thread, feather, mulberry bark, human hair, cocoon strippings, paper
