Rose Rose

On a solid copper background a number of diverse items are presented. Inside two industrial shuttles [the central threading devices have been removed and placed on each side of them]; wool and steel bundles store fragments of ancient alphabetical scripts from Mesopotamia. [These have been taken from the sketches to the earlier LINGA-FRANCA series].Four artificial eggs and a fossil are suspended presenting another symbolic presence. They are placed in the compostion to pose a question:'Will Substance return to Matter?' Wool surrounds the image to create a sense of conflict between nature and the man-made world.
In this piece I sought a sense of ossilation between diverse substances to question the 'durablity' of cultural signs and symbols. What will endure?
