The desire to create..., - 2010

The desire to create; Jealousy

The desire to create... was produced on a residency with Surface Arts in Exeter. The series of three cardboard sculptures were made in response to the warehouse space, the materials in it and the idea of DIY. As the work progressed it acquired political meanings from the fruit and vegetable boxes used in their construction.

Titles taken from Nietzsche; 'The desire to create continually is vulgar and betrays jealousy, envy and ambition.'
