Community Made Ceramic Tile Murals, Pocket Park, Dudley Rd, Wolverhampton, 2009 - 2010

The two inset tile mosaics are the community element of the Pocket Park commission to reflect the Sikh Wedding and Jewellery shopping centre on Dudley Rd, Wolverhampton. Primary school children worked with Caroline Jariwala to design mendhi patterns. They then made and glazed the inlaid ceramic tiles in workshops run by Penny Hampson and students of Wolverhampton University. The industrial terracotta tiles are cut to interpret mendhi patterns and inlaid jewellery.
