Ridgeway School Gates, 2009

The design is based on a section through the tree. It symbolises growth, which is exactly what the children are doing whilst at school growing physically & mentally. The text was be generated by the children themselves & is based on what they enjoy doing most at school. I feel that it is important that they have a direct input into the design of their school gates. The branches & leaves will extend along a couple of panels on either side of the gates to integrate them with the existing railings.
