Joseph Ismail

beyond the pleasure principle, (after Beckett), 2010

through the use of video and performance the work explores psychoanalytical and philosophical ideas around subjects such as repetition, rhetoric and activity/passivity. referencing universal processes, these performances seek a simplicity to show how these complex subjects are embedded within daily routine, and how they manifest themselves as behaviour, or as 'bodily acts'
