The video work 'middle voice' is like a metaphor for my wider practice. In this piece figures(?), abstract planes(?), white partition walls(?) are caught up in an on-going action, which has its own momentum, making and un-making spaces, architectures/configurations. There is no overview or plan (the white plastic boards mean that the participants cannot see what is going on) so that each performer is at once autonomous and in dialogue with the others. This work is like a metaphor for the creative process. It involves a loss of control, a present tense to and fro, the foregrounding of a space, where something which is not predetermined can occur, a creative force generated by interaction…..
