Formed in 2007 at Mission Gallery, Swansea FAO a three person collbrartive consisting of Fern Thomas, Adele Vye and Owen Griffiths. Their first comisioned piece was 'Altenative Light Night' a sight response to Swansea's Mission Gallery and part of the Swansea Festival of Light. In 2009 FAO won three catagories of Welsh Artist of the Year, for drawing, time based and photography. In 2009 FAO were commissioned to create a piece of work at National Theater of Wales. FAO transformed the newly opened offices of National Theater of Wales into a temporary Zen Garden, a participatory artwork consisting of pebbles, bolders, moss and rake for members of the public and staff at National Theatre to use. FAO also created sight responsive images in response to Zen Garden using a blackboard across Cardiff declaring each of the chosen sites to be Zen or have the possibility of being a Zen Garden, using the urban environment and it's architecture to create a poetic image or moment. These images were shown alongside the insatlled Zen Garden, where visitors were invired to have a cup of green tea.
