40 angels made out of pheasant and duck (female and male) heads are attached to plaster casts of angels from the South Transept and hand painted using the colours from the reredos in Gloucester Cathedral. Their strange beauty and elevated status draw attention to the ambivalence of our relationship with birds - whom we both protect and preserve as well as exploit.
There are 40 in total with two different angel designs, individually painted with uniquely different heads.
