Responding to the notion of spontaneity and 'Freedom of Choice' I have merged disparate elements together that have no natural relationship to each other [metal, glass, wood, feathers, lace etc]. Without responding to my 'usual' habit of planning a compostion after reverie/meditation etc, an abstract sequence has emerged using materials that happen to have been in the studio at the time of focusing on this idea.
In this spontaneous production the role of libido is central; on completing the composition I see that the materials chosen are both traditional and transgressive. Having long worked as a painter it is simultaneously liberating and daunting to make an assemblage of "found materials" ; was it significant that the copper pieces were already turning to verdigris before the composition was finished?
Inspiration:Nancy Spero's Murals came to mind.
