Tumble, - 1993

In the nine or ten years before making this painting I had produced a huge body of work in response to hill farming with many pieces containing images of sheep. The Sheep was becoming an alter ego for me and at the time of this painting I was going through something of an emotional crisis - I think I was very much identifying with the lamb down at the back of the painting.

'Tumble' was exhibited in 'Love Labour and Loss' (2002). An exhibition organised in response to the devastation caused by Foot and Mouth Desease. Carlisle Museum and Art Gallery & Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter.
