This drawing belongs to an ongoing body of work which has the title 'Clearing'. There is an ambiguity to the title which I enjoy. It could refer to an open space within a forest but also to the act of clearing away.

However, 'clearing' also suggests relief from darkness, obstruction and chaos. There is an optimism in this interpretation and it might infer a growing self-awareness on my part . . . but then again . . .
