Siloscapes, 2008

'Siloscapes' – A live audio performance in which the horizon line of the surrounding landscape is used as the basis of a musical score. The line of the horizon was split into 4; north-east, east to south etc. and traced onto music box paper, where the line crossed a punch point, the hole would be punched out creating a basic musical interpretation of the line. The series of dots on the music box paper was then used to create a very simple audiovisual score of white dots on a black frame. Each of the performers had the score corresponding to the compass point at which they were based, the only rule given was 'If there are no dots don’t play'. The Siloscapes performance is a sonic interpretation of the visual landscape supported by aural history recordings with the Robertson Family.
