Fugue, 2009

The weather, or more specifically water, in all its manifestations, and the position it occupies in my immediate surroundings informs much of my MA work.  In my Master's film project, 'Fugue', an unpredictable fall of water is contained within a seemingly mathematical progression of co-ordinates. In fact, three identical sections are organised according to a highly intuitive decision making process where the slightest change in timing of each strand of film affects the dynamic of the relationship within the overall piece.  'Fugue' is set against an undercurrent of complete silence, until a burst of percussive rain challenges the viewer to become aware of water as something the artist Roni Horn calls  'an event of relation'.
