Break Up, 2009

Break Up was a work performed in Helsinki, August 2009, during a residency at HIAP - Helsinki International Artist-in-Residence Programme - with my artist partner Davina Drummond.

After three years of collaborating with Davina, as Davina and Daniel, Davina and Daniel have decided to end their collaborative partnership.

Davina and Daniel are now interested in the relationship between a break up of an art practice partnership, and that of a romantic partnership.

This is especially relevant as the work of Davina and Daniel has often dealt with themes of romantic love and therapeutic communities.

In addition, Davina and Daniel have been struck by the Finns reputation for reserve, and for not being tactile with strangers, something they have not found to be the case. They wish to test this stereotype by inviting the Finnish public to comfort them with a hug.
