The Future is Near, 2009

Site specific installation in a former chapel in Hoorn, The Netherlands; developed as part of the collaborative residency, and subsequent exhibition, Stop, Rewind, Skip, Play, Hotel MariaKapel, January - March 2009.

The Future is Near draws on a series of influences to create a dramatic window at the head of a darkened chapel space.

Popular imagery from religion and science fiction is combined with the radial design of the chapel's courtyard.

The exhibition explored historical notions of 'the future', unpicking both local and global imagery associated with 'forgotten futures' and ideas of progress. For further information see hotelmariakapel.nl
