Surreptitious interventions within a large insurance firm. The firm occupies buildings which are of varying ages, and which interconnect in intriguing ways via corridors, bridges, basements, lifts, glass atria, etc. Six short texts were produced, each one inviting the reader to respond to the building in a playful way. Five copies of each text were printed onto cards. These thirty cards were put up on walls around the buildings as invitations to the reader to perform their surroundings.
Here are two of the texts:
TEXT 1
The Aviva Island Challenge:
Navigate the top and then the base of all five stairwell cores.
The Route:
Starting at the Carrara Staff Entrance (Core 1 Level -1, near Surrey Street), ascend the stairs to the top of the building. From there visit the highest point of the other four stairwell cores. On reaching Core 5 Level 6 in Rosso (overlooking the Bingo), descend to Level -1. From there visit the base of the other four stairwell cores, finishing back at the Carrara Staff Entrance.
The Only Rule:
Don't use the lifts.
The Time To Beat:
13 mins 12 secs
TEXT 2
A certain musical frequency or note will make this stairwell resonate like a giant speaker stack that's plugged in and ready for the DJ. You can find this note quite easily, just stand here and slowly sing an ascending scale until you feel the walls begin to buzz.
