Language is a system of signs and a word a sequence of sounds organized according to social convention. If we use these signs arbitrarily, the signified (the word) will be out of sync with the signifier (the concept). In U NO WHAT I MEAN a word inevitably loses its conventional meaning as the sequence of sounds is random. Only a huge effort will make this word fully comprehensible. The use of a private language is a metaphor for man's search for individual identity, in a world where living is characterised by feelings of solitude and inadequacy. It's a discomfort that comes from the awareness of a lack of meaning: the missing meaning of existence itself.
