In 'The Spectacle of Banality' a bus journey becomes a nightmare trip into someone's private life. A bus is a public space in which private conversations can be overheard. But it provides an ideal stage for attention seekers performing with mobiles, where the most popular performance is the over-exposure of their own private life. This work highlights how dull and gratuitous this spectacle can be and it takes it to the extreme Jean Baudrillard's claim that 'the spectacle of banality' is 'today's true pornography and obscenity'.
