The Public ACTS, 2008

The Public ACTS a site-specific work commissioned by the newly opened The Public gallery - invited visitors to the gallery to explore the building by performing a prescribed action, witnessed, and documented by myself.

Members of the public were invited to 'lucky dip' one from fifteen envelopes. Each envelope contained an 'act' to be performed in an area of the the building - some of the acts involved interactions with staff at The Public. All were given the choice NOT to perform the action. The conversations and interactions involved in explaining the work, were equally part of the work, whether, or not, this led to an action be completed.
